SECURITY AND NUISANCE
The Gambia is notable amongst her neighbouring country for her strict security laws. Police and immigration officers are usually seen parading the streets ensuring the safety of both locals, visitors and tourists.
There appear to be no major security threats here but like any other country, there seems to be always a few treacherous individuals trying to make an easy living by robbing or tricking others.
It is always advisable to keep your belongings close and when you do park your car do not leave anything visible and make sure the doors are locked.
I can almost guarantee that you would never have to encounter any security threats.
There are however those that are locally referred to as “Bumster”, they are mostly unemployed youths offering their services, hoping you might have a job for them.
Their approach may be inappropriate most times, if they say something to you while you sit in a pub or a restaurant, talk back or ignore them.
The country is under constant police surveillance. Do not be afraid to ask a uniform man for help at any time or place if you feel panic or threatened.
WALKABOUT AND TRIPS
Settling at the front of hotels and guest houses are tourist taxis, ready to take you to your desired destinations at affordable prices.
They are often painted green, making them stand out from local taxis.
The drivers could take you on a trip or provide you with a tour guide if you need one.
There are other conventional taxis available of course if you choose to experience the life as a local.
A big part of the whole Gambia experience is, without doubt, the weather.
The weather offers sun almost all year round which can only be an advantage to tourists and visitors.
If you yearn to experience the sun in its full glory, Gambia is a great place to do this.
You will undoubtedly return back home with a tan!
How can you refuse the invitation to visit the Gambia?
